Peterborough Limited are recruiting a Permanent, Vehicle Mechanic to work full time (37 hours per week), based in Peterborough.
We are seeking a skilled Fitter/Mechanic to join our team to perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles and plant. This role is crucial in ensuring that all vehicles and machinery operates efficiently and reliably to support our ongoing operations.
Based in Peterborough, this is a full-time role with a competitive salary up to £37,000 per annum. What does the role involve?
  • Ensuring vehicle downtime is kept to a minimum.
  • Maintaining and repairing a variety of vehicles, including RCV, Cage Tippers, Mechanical Sweepers, and other waste industry specialist vehicles, plant, and equipment.
  • Performing diagnoses to identify problems using the latest specialist equipment where needed.
  • Maintaining the fleet as prescribed in the DVSA guide to roadworthiness standards, including everyday ad-hoc repairs.
  • Inspect and prepare all types of vehicles for MOT’s maintaining a 100% pass rate.
  • Ensuing all documentation, Work Orders, and service sheets are completed and returned to the workshop office for approval, signature and filing.
  • Ensuring that all tooling and equipment used complies with current legislation and certification.
  • Maintaining a tidy bench and work area.
What are we looking for?
  • Experience maintaining and repairing all types of vehicles mentioned above.
  • Basic computer literacy skills.
  • Up-to-date competency for the repair of vehicles.
  • Diagnostic ability to identify problems, find solutions, and repair detected defects when required.
  • Up to date knowledge of DVSA road worthiness guide for HGV/ PSV vehicles
  • Educated to City and Guilds or NVQ Levels as appropriate.
  • Valid LGV Licence is desirable.
  • Valid PSV License is desirable.
  • A full valid UK driving license.
