Description
Are you an experienced tractor driver looking for a permanent position?
Hours of work – 37 hours Monday to Friday (finish at 12:45pm every Friday)
At Peterborough Limited we looking to recruit to our local authority contract with Peterborough City Council where we are responsible for maintaining all the Council’s parks, green open spaces and highway verges. As a tractor driver you would be responsible for operating one of our new fleet of tractors (New Holland - up to 100 HP) with various equipment including side arm flails, which we use for maintaining the Council shrubs/hedges as well as highway verges.
We operate Monday to Friday from our Nursery Lane Depot in Fengate, working a 37 hours per week (annualised), with an early finish every Friday (12.45pm). Overtime opportunities are regularly available for those looking for additional hours/work.
Key Deliverables
- To operate a variety of plant, equipment and machinery (inc tractors up to 100HP), and to drive company vehicles as required.
- To undertake work activities using plant and machinery (inc tractors) to safely and consistently undertake works to a high standard
- To operate tractors fitted with side-arm flails, front and rear mounted mowers to cut rural roadside verges and open spaces around the Peterborough area
- To operate tractors fitted with side-arm flails to cut urban and rural hedges/shrubs within the Peterborough area
- To be responsible for the day-to-day inspections and basic maintenance of the equipment, machinery and plant you are responsible for
- To complete all appropriate safety checks on all vehicles and equipment, carrying out maintenance, and reporting defects as required
- To ensure high standards of quality, health and safety and customer satisfaction are delivered at all times.
- To undertake various streetcare maintenance tasks as required (grass cutting, shrub/hedge cutting, planting, litter picking, cleansing etc) of public open spaces, cemeteries, parks and highways.
- To comply with the Company Health and Safety Policy and all associated procedures and guidance documents.
- To comply with all other Company Policies and procedures.
- Any other duties which may be reasonably requested that are commensurate with the post holders qualifications, skills, knowledge or expertise
Requirements - qualifications
Experience in:
- Operating tractors (of all sizes) for grass cutting works (using side arm flails and front/rear mounted cutters) (E)
- Operating tractors (of all sizes) for hedge cutting works (using side arm flails) in rural and urban environments (E)
- Operating tractors (of all sizes) on the public highway (E)
Demonstrated first-hand experience of safely operating tractors and attachments in a range of horticultural/agricultural environments, including grass cutting and hedge maintenance (E)
Requirements - experience
- Driving licence up to 7.5 tonne (C1 licence) (E)
- Recognised qualification in the use of tractors and implements (D)
- Demonstrative knowledge and practical skills in agricultural plant and machinery, including tractors, tractor implements, ride-on mowers (D)
- Knowledge of general grounds maintenance works and activities (E)
- Understanding of the importance and delivery of Health and Safety and its application (E)
- Understanding of the importance of, and commitment to Equalities and Diversity and its application (E)
